Chandra: What path did you take to your current position?

Jason:  I studied advertising in school, always wanting to have a career in marketing. I stayed true to that path and I started my career in traditional marketing, working as an account planner, doing branding campaigns and storytelling. I was also in charge of new business development. From there, I moved into digital marketing, working as an Account Director for a large SEO agency and then as an in-house SEO Manager. I geek out to research, so finding a role at a local agency to apply my SEO skills led me to apply for the SEO Manager position at Point It.

Chandra: Why did you choose Point It?

Jason:  I wanted to work on the agency side again, having spent the last year working in-house. From there, I wanted to find a company that provided a team-first attitude. Lastly, I wanted a company where I could both add value and continue to learn, surrounded by smart people doing smart work. After doing my research, looking at Point It clients and going through the interview process, I felt Point It would be a great fit for me both culturally and professionally.

Chandra: What are you most excited about in your new role?

Jason:  I am most excited to help build the SEO team and process. Working for a company that ‘gets’ SEO is exciting, and being able to contribute immediately is great. Being surrounded by smart people pushes me to continue to learn and grow, making me a better teammate and ultimately serving our clients better.

Chandra: If someone wanted to follow in your footsteps, what piece of advice would you offer them?

Jason:  Never say never, embrace change and don’t settle. Do not be afraid of a challenge and do not box yourself in. This is your life, so make the most of it and do something you are passionate about. Push yourself and step outside your comfort zone. Never stop learning and being curious. Create the career you want. You don’t want to have regrets when you look back, because the time will pass quickly, so make the most of it!

Chandra is the Recruiting Manager for Point It where she sources, attracts, recruits and interviews potential candidates for available openings. Previously, she was a contract recruiter within the A/E/C industry primarily in the Seattle area. She attended University of Southern California where she studied Architecture, and Baker College where she graduated with a B.A. in Business Administration, Marketing emphasis. When she isn’t building relationships with prospective employees, you can find Chandra camping, hiking, baking, or at the beach with her husband and 3 kiddos.
