Last night the Point It in-house marketing team was watching our email with bated breath. We knew that Maddie Cary, Director of Paid Search and Katy Tonkin, VP of Digital Strategy were just moments away from hearing the results of this year’s Landy Award Winners for the Best B2C SEM Initiative – Enterprise. Then the company-wide email came in. It read: “We WON, guys!” My 4-year old ran in to make sure I didn’t hurt myself when an involuntary “Woop!” came from the kitchen. It’s such a delight to work with so many talented people.
How do you win a Landy?
Winning a Landy means working harder than the most diligent of workers. When the criteria are focused on paid search
advertising efforts to improve visibility and attract converting new customers on major search platforms, you need to bring your “A game”. That’s just what we did.
There’s no question that every company loves to win awards, it’s one of those illustrations of excellence in your field. And to be chosen by the same organization two years in a row is cause for serious celebration. Just because The Landy Awards are in their infancy (just two years old), doesn’t stop the cream of the crop from submitting some incredible campaigns for consideration. This year, we were up against some impressive brands: Catalyst for Jaguar Land Rover, ROI DNA for VirginAmerica.com and Search Discovery for ApartmentFinder.com.
Microsoft + Point It sitting in a tree
We partnered with our long-time client, Microsoft, to talk about a highly successful surprise product launch of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book on the US Microsoft Store site. Our goal was to maximize last-click transactional revenue growth while minimizing impact to ROAS. Together with Microsoft, our team overcame many challenges creating the critical buzz that allows digital marketers to maximize revenue and conversions while generating customer excitement for the product.
Taking advantage of keyword targeting, audience targeting (RSLA), creative messaging, and closely monitored bidding strategies, we were able to act quickly and intelligently to maximize return on every Microsoft dollar. The results weren’t insignificant. Our team was able to see a huge jump in year over year SEM revenue growth. It was also one of the highest SEM revenue months of all time. We saw impressive lift in click through rates and massive improvements in revenue per click.
With those kind of results, it’s hard not to want to give this hard working team a Landy, right? I suppose I’m a little biased.
